Hey Jakey!
Momma's been busy lately, but in a good way. Summer is a lot of work, but when fall arrives, that's when I get to do a lot of fun stuff, courtesy of all the good people who send me free shit. C and I went to see the touring version of The Producers down in Reno on Tuesday. It was *okay*, but it was a lot of fun just to go to a theater production, which I haven't done in a loooong time. I had comps to go to about a zillion different Oktoberfests this weekend, but wound up going to none of them.
On Thursday, I drove up here to Incline to see the former prime minister of Pakistan, Ms. Benazir Bhutto, give a talk at the SNC campus. What an amazing and inspiring woman. The focus of her speech was on fighting terrorism through more peaceful means, and also how the world now views Muslims after 9/11. Oh, and she's a stone cold FOXY lady, too.
Yesterday C and I went to the Truckee "Wine Walk and Shop" and I got thoroughly toasted on some of the finest wines I've ever had the pleasure of downing. I was good, though, and didn't do any shopping, just wining and walking.
Then we went to Tahoe City and got our hair done by Katy at The Balcony. Whew, I've been meaning to do that for quite a while now. I was starting to look like a shaggy dog. I was looking at photos of me at F's wedding last week, and my hair looked atrocious. So I feel better now. I'm all purply now, with a pretty new cut. The barista at Starbux this morning validated me, she said "Wow! I love your hair color!" Yay for me!
Let's see, what new stuff are you doing this week...
You pull up onto the back of my pants and walk forward holding onto me. I think you're about a month or so away from doin' it all on your own, baby! You sit up on your knees all by yourself and play. I was starting to get worried that you weren't sitting up on your own yet. Your daddy read somewhere that Tiger Woods was walking when he was six months old, and since I know you're much more talented than he is, I assume you'll be doing calculus or translating Proust or something very cerebral in the next couple of weeks.
Your grandma's gonna be here on October 13, and I actually can't wait. You have so much new stuff to show her. When she left last time, you were creeping around a little, and had just started solid food. You hadn't even been pulling up yet. She's gonna be amazed!
Daddy and I are thinking about... no, scratch that... we're GOING TO take the RV out on my days off this week, and go camping up in Hope Valley for a couple of days. It will probably be our last chance to get out and do something like this for the rest of the year. My mom will be here for a month, so we won't be able to do it then, then by the time she's gone in November, it'll be too cold.
Oh, here's something else you've been doing lately that's really cute: you've been living up to your middle name and howling like a Wolf-Boy. You grab onto something and start bouncing violently up and down, tilt your head back and howl like a wolf. I'm waiting for whiskers to sprout from your face and claws to shoot out from your fingers. Oh, wow, missing you now! And I've only been at work for a half hour.
I'll be home soon, don't miss me too much. Love you!
