Hey Jakey,

Long time no blog. You're another year older and deeper in debt! We got back from your birthday weekend in San Jose on Sunday night. We spent all of Thursday thru Sunday at your grandparents house. Well, *you* did. I took the opportunity to hang out with L and drink.

Thursday night we went to see The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash at the Brookdale Lodge, just down the street from L. Great band, one of my new favorites bands. Ironically, they played the Crystal Bay Club here in Tahoe the night before, and I missed them, but got to see them the next night down in BC. Cool. Here they are:



The next night L and I met up for dinner at White Lotus, one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. I should've taken pictures, the food there is gorgeous. We ordered tofu-stuffed tomatoes, stuffed tofu, curry pork, ginger-spiced beef and spring rolls. And I had a Thai iced tea. It's all vegan food, tarted up to look like meat products. Sounds dag-nasty, but it's delicious.

Saturday morning I slept in until noon. Your daddy went out birthday shopping for you with his sister (your aunt), and I wound up shopping by myself. I went to a big-ass Target and was floored to find *this* contraption:



If you want to take your cart upstairs, you put it on the little track next to the escalator and it follows you up. Same thing going down. I had to ride the damn thing a couple times just to watch and snap pictures. Will modern wonders never cease.

I wound up buying you a toddler tent at Target and some clothes at Burlington.

I can't believe how many relatives called up and cancelled coming to your party, Jake. Bastards! Apparently your great-granpa had diarrhea. Hmph. And uncle B (that likes to stare at my rack) had a date. Not likely. Ick. Anyway, we had a great time without them.
