Gun control

Hey Jakey,

I'm a card-carrying, button-wearing "Don't buy kids war toys" kind of momma. But when the grandparents show up with a Costco-sized bag of water pistols and the notion that I'm just being a joy-killing tree-hugger.... well. You just wind up telling yourself that you gotta pick your battles.

But, other than not having a decent nap since they got here, and Nana not feeding you nearly enough, you seem to be having a great time. Everyone's taking a break from each other tonight, though, and you're home with us, while they re-coup and try and organize the campsite. You did manage to take a decent nap as soon as you got home, and you withered in my arms at your normal bedtime.

Tomorrow is Nana's birthday, so I bought her a cake tonight, and Papa and I are going halfsies on the new Anderson Cooper autobio for her. Hope she finishes it while she's here, cuz I'd like to take a gander at it. Or at least the photos. What a cutie.

That's all I have time for tonight. Love you!

My aunt and uncle live in a cabin on a mountain, and their boy gets no tv. They are huge hippie-no-gun-peace-love people, but magically, when the boy turned about four, he started wanting guns. At Christmas when you asked him what he wanted, he'd look over both his shoulders to make sure mom or dad weren't listening, and say, "Anything that kills." His parents were so mortified, poor things! LOL.

I was anti gun play also, but my son began gravitating toward them when he was 3. He wanted to watch movies with guns, have a GI Joe with a gun, have a cap gun, etc.
I wonder what it's all about?

It must be a "boy thing"! I guess all I can do is not fight it, but not encourage it. My husband is not helping, as he is introducing him early to the danged X-BOX.

I also have a no gun policy in my home. I have allowed the odd squirt-gun but they always manage to become lost. Hmmm. Wonder why?
