Hey Jakey,
It snowed yesterday. Down here in the valley, it was rain, but up on the mountain, it was snow! Yay!
Your grandparents (the Cali edition) came up for a day and a night, and stayed in a hotel up at the Lake.
Yeah, don't get me started. Yeah, they only live four hours away. Yeah, we can count on about three fingers how many times they've visited us since you've been born. Yeah, we always have to make the drive to see them. Yeah, the only way we can get them to visit is if someone else is driving, and a free stay at a casino is involved.
Let me break here to remind you that they love you very much. They're just a bit ... neurotic, to the point of being totally annoying ... when it comes to making the drive over the hill to Nevada.
So the reason we got to see them this weekend is because your daddy's stepdad (it's difficult to call him "grandpa", he's not much older than me and your daddy...), who is a mailman, got together with a bunch of other mailmen and arranged a gambling trip to Tahoe, complete with a rented mini-van and a group rate on rooms. Grandma tagged along and we got to spend all day Sunday with them.
Actually, Daddy and I left you to catch up with Grandma in the hotel room, and took off for a few hours to catch a movie (The Departed. Wow. Best movie I've seen all year.) and lounge around in a cafe for a bit, while Grandpa played blackjack and bet on some 49er action.
Okay, I just wrote a bunch of crap about how annoying in-laws can be. Then I read over it and promptly deleted it. Your momma is such a bitch. Suffice it to say that everyone has annoying quirks, even your perfect, angelic mother.

All in all, though, we had a pretty good time, except there towards the end, when your daddy apparently got food poisoning at dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, and wound up puking in a plant in the lobby of Harveys. Then was sick all day yesterday and couldn't take you to school.
Love you!

No, not a bad person at all! I thought it was quite funny myself, as I disavowed any knowledge of his existence when he started heaving.
