My first-ever "pump and dump"

Hey Wavy,

Happy almost-three-weeks birthday.

How does one write a first post-baby blog post? It should be profound, I guess. Something that poignantly captures this monumental milestone in the life of our little family.

I got nothin'.

As these emotional pregnancy hormones drain from my body, replaced by pragmatic nursing hormones, I'm not even going to try. I'll eventually get to the details of birth, post-birth and all that shit, but for now, I just gotta write and get this "first post" thing out of the way.

Went for my two-week post-partum doctor visit yesterday. She thinks I've been sick lately because I have some kind of infection going on. So I had to do a abdominal CT scan this morning, which meant drinking two quarts of poison prior to the scan, as well as poison administered intravenously *during* the scan.

All of which means I'm not to nurse for 24 hours. Never a champion breast-milk pumper, I gave it a shot today/tonight and surprised myself by pumping a goodly amount. Then DUMPING IT DOWN THE DRAIN. Ouch.

You've been drinking formula all day today, and it makes you catatonic and constipated. Seven more hours and we're back to nursing.

Also met with a lactation consultant yesterday for an hour or so (Any ideas as to what activity rules our lives right now?!?!?).

Sweet lady. An RN, probably around 60 or so, an Earth Mother type that man-handled my boobs and got along famously with you. I'm glad we've got her on speed-dial, cuz I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Nursing's been going very well so far, the exact opposite of how it went down with your brother.

Okay, more later. It's 3 in the morning, and my drugs are starting to wear off...

Love you, sweetie!

Wow. The look on her face in the first photo is one I've seen on yours a million times!

What a beautiful girl! And congratulations on actually doing well with the nursing thing. I always find that impressive, since I was so defective at it. . .

Hugs!
Stef

Kell - she's amazing. Wow ... speechless. Wish you were closer. :-(

I have no wisdom about breast feeding. I won't even go there with what wisdom I have. lol.

Love ya.
