S-A-T-U-R. D-A-Y. Night!

Hey kids,

It's Saturday night and you're winding down. At least I hope you are. You've been a handful. Daddy's been gone today so it was just the three of us. We were out in the back yard for quite a while cuz it was hot in the house. That's you in the pic above, Wavy, hanging out in the sling and, as always, looking like you're enjoying the hell outta yourself.

We had to pack up and go inside when the storm clouds rolled in and dumped rain and hail on us, so we ended up watching The Incredibles one and a half times and taking a nap. I love it when I can get the both of you to go down at the same time. It's like winning the lotto.

This photo makes me laugh, cuz it makes Wavy look like a frickin' huge Baby Huey.

I'm waiting until tomorrow to put the rest of the transplants in. Yesterday we put in the little squashes, and I have absolutely no confidence that *anything* that we plant will survive you, Jake.

We've got three pots of the mini-zukes in, and so far, you have picked the petals off the flowers, pinched off leaves and repeatedly rammed them with the jogger stroller and the wheelbarrow.

I fear for the tomatoes and peppers I plan to put in tomorrow.

Anybody know what this is?

It was on my front lawn yesterday morning. I'm guessing there's something like a spittle bug in the middle of all that. Whatever it is, it gives me the creeps. It's like a big pile of gelatinous bubbles. It's gone today, cuz the rain washed it away.

Anyway, that's all I got for now. I made a turkey meatball-barley-vegetable soup for dinner, but I'm too worn out to get excited about eating it. I settled instead for Cherry Pop-Tarts.

Big agenda tomorrow, we'll see how much of it comes to pass: Arts & Crafts Fair in downtown Minden, preparing the transplants for the upcoming massacre, and I'd like to slip out for a couple hours to see the new Kevin Costner movie, "Mr. Brooks."

Love ya, sleep tight, don't let the spittle bugs bite.

I'm going to have two solo weeks with the girlies this summer while the daddy goes away to university. I have totally lost my solo-mama mojo while I've been back at work, so I'm getting kinda nervous. Sounds like you're doing well with it!!

All the plants I bought two weeks ago are still sitting in the garage. I'm a little surprised that they're not dead yet. I should bring them to sun...soon, very soon.

Mmmmm...spittle bug. Maybe I don't want to take up gardening.
