Hey Jakey!
Just got back from the Genoa Candy Dance. When your daddy and I went last year, it was twice as hot, and I was five months pregnant with you. The Genoa Candy Dance is an annual event in the little historical town of Genoa, a few miles down the road from where we are in G-Ville. It's been going on for about 85 years or something like that. It started out as a town fundraiser way back when, but now it's this huge arts and crafts festival with nearly 900 booths (or--900 different ways for your momma to spend her hard-earned money...).
Anyway, I went by myself this year, because last year, daddy didn't have a very good time, and then the next day, he had a heart attack, and he blamed it on over-exerting himself at the Candy Dance. I was supposed to meet C there, but she never showed up. Thass allright, though. I work A&C fests best when I'm alone. I'm quick and efficient and don't dilly-dally. I did the whole event in less than three hours. But any calories I may have burned off was off-set by all the candy I consumed. It's a CANDY Dance, ferchrissakes. I got some Christmas shopping done, and managed to not have to use a Sani-Hut. I looked and looked for a coon-skin hat for you, but couldn't find one.
I saw the new Julianne Moore movie yesterday, The Forgotten. I liked it. Sure, it was like an extended version of an X-Files episode, and the big scares were pretty manufactured. Nonetheless, I jumped and choked on my popcorn in all the right places, and it was an intriguing premise. And I really like Julianne Moore. How can I resist a movie whose premise hinges on the intense bond a momma has for her little boy? My movie reviewer is going to hate it, she hates all movies, but I really enjoyed it.
So here's the front-page headline on Sunday's paper here in Incline:
"Mt. Rose welcomes pubic with new center"
I am now three for three. Every newspaper I've ever worked at has had a pubic/public fiasco. Sigh. Enough of small-town newspapers. I gotta move on!
Anyway, someday that headline will make you laugh, Wolf Boy. Gotta go. Love ya!
