Hey Jakey,
Tonight we have a guest blogger! Yes, the very same K(C) mentioned in yesterday's post. (BUSTED!) K used to be my boss at the paper, and then he left me, and he is rather missed by all, especially me. Without further ado:
Dear Jake, (it reads)
Tell your mommy I found her blog.
It was quite a coincidence, really. After our lunch yesterday, I had an idea for my Earthfeeds project to include an RSS feed search with business listings. After all, I don't care about a 2-year-old restaurant review, I want to know what someone said about the Hawaiian curry on their blog yesterday. So I searched for Thai Spice Kitchen and wham, there you were!
Tell your mommy she is very smart, not using any real names of people. That keeps it well hidden. People do searches on their names all the time. If your mommy really wanted to hide this, she would not use place names, either.
Yes, that meeting was a little boring, but welcome to my life. This is the final step in this calendar project that I have been working on for a year and a half. I asked my boss if I could change my title to Chief Cat Herder. Anyway, the meeting was more for those feet-dragging editors than your mama. And I thought the carrot cake was pretty good, but I've been away from xxxxxx dessert land for quite a while, so my standards might have dipped.
You can also tell your mommy she has some great opportunities in front of her in this malleable world we call Internet. We create our own destiny here. All she has to do is dream up a vision of what she wants, and then be that vision. And tell her not the let all those petty things with coworkers and bosses get her down. They just distract from what's important. She won't even remember that stuff when she's rich and famous.
Speaking of famous, keep playing that guitar. You look like a natural. Your mommy is so proud.
Thanks, K. You've always been a big supporter, and I swear I keep hearing from other people that you say kind things about me.
So there ya have it, sweetie, our first guest blogger. And a much-needed reminder that we are not blogging in a vacuum... Sadly, we must now also say goodbye to Jay Farrar as he sails off into the secret archives. We'll meet again, Jay, and next time, I won't be such a dork!
Nighty-night, Jake. Love you!
