Hey Jakey,
I moved into my new office today on the South Shore today. It's like moving to another country where I don't really know anybody, except in passing. I don't know what the break room etiquette is, I don't know which slackers are gonna be my smoking buddies yet, I don't know how late I can get away with.
P walked me around the neighborhood: there's a liquor/convenience store with every American Spirit imaginable (even the icky herbal tobacco-less ones), a vegan health food sandwich shop, two taquerias, a Frosty's drive-in knockoff, and a coffee shop. I think I will be very happy there.
Of course I'll still be down at my old office a couple days a week for the time being, but that's kewl. I'll get to hang out with my friend/s.
Still amazed me, though, as I snapped this pic: I'm working at the ___, ferchrissakes. Can you imagine, six years ago... on vacation... thinking, "Damn, I'd like to live and work here."
Okay, for the record, I am at this point thinking: Damn, I'd like to work for Martha Stewart Living Magazine.
Or how 'bout this: Damn, I wish I was designing opening credits for major motion pictures, ala Saul Bass.
Maybe in six years, I will be sitting at my computer at MSLO in New York, thinking back on these days.
Your Nana and Grampa will be here on Sunday, Jake! So, ummmm... get a move on cleaning up this house, willya? It's a mess!
Love you!
