Hey Jakey,
Merry Christmas to ya... Your nana has made us all sick. Sick as dogs. You woke up this morning crying cuz you felt so nasty, I woke up feeling fine. I felt fine right up until about 6:30 pm. Now I have a sore throat, cough, runny nose and a fever on deck. Daddy feels like shit, too. AHHHH! I hate being sick.
You had a good time, not a great time, opening presents. You had about a million of them. You got so excited at one point that you puked. Oh, poor baby. I'd be willing to feel twice as bad as I do now, just so you could feel better. Nothing sadder than a puking baby on Christmas morning.
(Side note...) I didn't make out so well for Xmas this year. Daddy got me a bunch of DVDs (Season 3 of Northern Exposure, The Brothers Grimm, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and, for some inexplicable reason... Bewitched, the one with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell). That's cool. DVD's are nice. But my parents got me nothing. Zippo. Zilch. Oh well. It's all about you nowadays, baby. Christmas is for the kids. Word.
Anyway. My first Christmas in my own home in about 13 years. This is the year that we begin trading off Xmas'es with my parents and teh in-laws. I would've enjoyed this more if I hadn't planned such an elaborate dinner menu, and if I didn't feel so punk.
Here's what we had for dinner (courtesy of ME, all ME, no help whatsoever...):
* Turkey (a 19-lb'er, in teh oven by 10 a.m.)
* Cornbread stuffing (with pecans and cranberries)
* Grueyere Gratin Potatoes
* Yellow squash casserole
* Salad (baby spinach, hearts of palm, cranberries, pecans, Gorgonzola, raspberry vinaigrette)
* the usual crap: a veggie relish plate, crescent rolls, daddy's giblet gravy
* and for dessert, pumpkin flan with freshly whipped cinnamon whipped cream
Haha, that last picture is your daddy, continuing to eat after everyone has left the table, cleared their plates and wandered away.
Okay, time for another Airborne and a jug of water. I'm going to beat this thing by tomorrow evening. Count on it. Love you, hope you feel better, and hope your second Christmas didn't suck too much...
