Hey Jakey,
Nana and Papa took you for your very first *professional* haircut yesterday. I tricked them into doing what I was way too chicken to do myself. They must've done everything right, including getting you an ice cream BEFORE your haircut, because you seem to have had a great time and you were not the holy terror that I thought you would be.
It's a terrible haircut, by the by. Not style-wise... just poorly executed. I guess that's what you get at a discount salon. But you are cuter than cute, nonetheless.
Had a long talk today with (nice) Boss, and he reassured me about the concerns I've been having regarding having a second child. Of course I'm worried about not being able to love a second child as much as I love my first. He said of course I'm worried about it now, but once she's born, it's won't be an issue. He has four children himself, and he said that you start out worried that you only have one "bucket" of love, and that you (Jake) have been swimming around in that bucket all by yourself for all these months, and now I'm having number two, and I'm dreading having to dump another kid in that same bucket with you. But you find out that you have TWO buckets! More than enough love to go around.
Yeah, kind overboard with the bucket analogy, but very sweet. He's a good guy.
He also said that no mother ever said to herself, "How can I ever love this new baby as much as I love my husband?" It's not an issue, you just love everybody in the family equally. (He said he may have cribbed this one from Dr. Phil, but again, very sweet.)
Any other mothers of two or more who want to weigh in on this?
You got to spend the night with me and daddy for the first time in two nights, and I almost cried with relief. Waking up next to your smell, the weight of you, the sound of your breath... ah. Don't leave me again, you little turd. Love you!
EDIT: Gawd, reading over this again, I sound like a hormonal wreck of a woman, who can't climb outside her own wall of kidlet-dom. Really, I *am* more interesting than this....

Awwww! Jake looks so handsome!
Your boss is right. :)
Well, as a father of 2 (one of each) I can say that I love them equally, but differently.
Hard to explain, but how it seems to me.
