Avada Kadavra!

Hey kids,

I finally finished. It took me exactly a week. And you know why it took me so long? 'Cos of YOU! It is impossible to read while you are awake; if I am not reading directly to you, then you have absolutely no sympathy for me. So I have this tiny, tiny window every night, between the time the two of you are asleep, and when I fall asleep myself. Usually this window is an hour, hour and a half, tops, but this week I propped my eyelids open long enough to read at least a 100 pages a night, often finding myself asleep, face-down in the book, at three or four in the morning.

This also means I spent the week running, screaming, from rooms whenever the subject of Harry was brought up. Flipping past news features about the book on tv, averting my eyes when "Harry" subject lines popped up on my home page news features.

But, now I'm done, and I'm sad. I sniffled my way through the last chapter yesterday.

I was late to Potter-mania, and have only been caught up in publishing day madness these last two books. I pre-ordered a copy on Amazon way back in February, as it sounded like a great idea at the time: no pesky lines at the bookstore, no elbow-to-elbow with kids dressed up in big glasses and Gryffendor scarves, delivery straight to my doorstep on July 21. Well, come midnight of that day, I knew I wouldn't be able to wait for the UPS man, who usually swings by at about 5 p.m. Long story short, I now have two copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Anyway, I'll hold on to my motley assortment of Harry paperbacks and hardbacks for you, for when you finally get enough of Richard Scarry and all things Pooh. Love ya!
